Where Streets, Sound, and Stardom Collide
Today on BLAZIN 420, we sit down with an undeniable force in radio, nightlife culture, and the national DJ scene — the one and only DJ 2 Times, also known as DJ Dre2times.
A master of momentum, a breaker of records, and a cultural bridge between Chicago and Houston, DJ 2 Times has built a career rooted in authenticity, innovation, and pure musical instinct.
He’s not just spinning records — he’s setting the tempo for the weekend.
Let’s step into his world.
THE INTERVIEW BEGINS
BLAZIN 420:
DJ 2 Times, welcome to BLAZIN 420! Your show Friday Rush Hour has become a weekly ritual for listeners. How would you describe the vibe of your show to someone tuning in for the first time?
DJ 2 TIMES:
Friday Rush Hour is energy. It’s motion. It’s that feeling when you’re leaving work, rolling the windows down, and stepping straight into the weekend.
I bring Chicago grit, Houston flavor, and my own signature vibe to the table — exclusive mixes, fresh premieres, and the type of momentum that makes you forget you were tired five minutes ago.
If you want the perfect kickoff to your weekend, this is it.
BLAZIN 420:
Your journey started in Chicago at the legendary 77.3 WBBC. How did that experience shape your career?
DJ 2 TIMES:
WBBC was where I learned the fundamentals. The hustle, the professionalism, the programming, the crowd control — all that started there. Chicago raised me. It taught me how to move with purpose and how to rock ANY crowd.
Being part of that culture gave me the confidence and skillset that I still carry to this day.
BLAZIN 420:
When you moved to Houston, you brought a whole different energy. What was that transition like?
DJ 2 TIMES:
Houston welcomed me like family. The South loved my style, and I loved their culture — the music, the people, the nightlife, the whole vibe.
I came with Chicago energy, but Houston gave me a new lane. That mix of both worlds created something powerful, and the city embraced it.
That’s why I always say: Chicago made me, but Houston elevated me.
BLAZIN 420:
Your résumé is heavy — Sony signing in 2019, induction into the Houston DJ Hall of Fame, 2× Platinum status with Chicago Fleet, major concert stages… What do you think has been the key to your longevity and success?
DJ 2 TIMES:
Consistency and authenticity.
I always showed up. I always delivered. And I always stayed true to my sound.
People respect real DJs — the ones who break new records, support new artists, and rock a crowd without relying on a playlist.
I’m a student of the game AND a teacher in the game. That’s what keeps you relevant.
BLAZIN 420:
You’re known as one of the best record breakers in the industry — someone who hears potential before the world does. What’s your approach to discovering new artists?
DJ 2 TIMES:
I listen for hunger. I listen for originality. And I listen for that spark that makes you rewind a track.
Artists who put their whole story into their music — that’s who I look out for.
If I believe in you, I’ll push your record like it’s my own. That’s what being a real DJ is about.
BLAZIN 420:
What makes Friday Rush Hour on BLAZIN 420 different from other radio shows?
DJ 2 TIMES:
It’s real culture. Real energy. Real movement.
I’m not just playing songs — I’m setting a tone.
Every mix is crafted. Every record has a purpose. Every episode is a new ride.
This show is for the hustlers, the dreamers, the grinders, the people who need a vibe before they hit the weekend.
I make sure they get it.
BLAZIN 420:
What can listeners expect next from DJ 2 Times?
DJ 2 TIMES:
Bigger mixes. Bigger premieres. More collaborations.
I’m working on expanding the show, tapping into new markets, and building Friday Rush Hour into a national movement.
And trust me — there are some major surprises coming.
This is only the beginning.
